Having helped transform her family’s Philadelphia-based business into a 2300 employee, 130-store retail powerhouse and nationally recognized brand, Dana Spain took on the publishing world after the sale of the family business. She invested in the then-struggling Philadelphia Style magazine, subsequently purchased the publication, turned it into a profitable entity and founded DC Style and three award-winning interactive regional networking Web sites.
The sites broke new ground in the industry by developing vibrant, loyal interactive online communities. The sites’ success convinced Spain to redefine her business model with a focus on Web, new media and other brand extensions. Under Spain’s direction, the STYLE brand became synonymous with high profile advertisers, exclusive sponsored events, effective reader loyalty programs, design-forward custom publishing and inventive collateral before its sale to Niche Media in 2008.
Spain has successfully partnered with, advised and invested in hospitality properties in Philadelphia, New York, Orlando and DC and has created brands and marketing packages for corporations, chefs, restaurants, private schools and other diverse clients. Spain specializes in the development and execution of consistent brand messaging, both internal and external, including: traditional and new media development, employee training/coaching, direct consumer outreach and image consulting for executives and team members.
